Extreme Outdoors Australia: Are Their Dirt Bikes Any Good?

Extreme Outdoors Australia sells dirt bikes and quad bikes, but are they worth it? We decided to create an unbiased review of what they have.

We have no commercial or business relationship and hope to simply provide consumers with a zero-affiliation opinion based on our research.

After all – we love Adelaide and have even written this incredible guide:

Yep! You got it. Now there’s no excuses about where you can ride.

Extreme Outdoors Australia review

These guys actually sell a lot of things from camper trailers to imported dirt bikes and parts. They are also agents for the popular Opus camper trailers.

Strangely there are no toy haulers in their range but we look forward to that changing quite soon.

What really got our attention recently was their dirt bikes. They are certainly cheap! When you compare the offerings to Yamaha, Honda and KTM both for kids and adults, you’re probably going to easily save thousands of dollars.

Extreme Outdoors Australia review
These are the Chinese bikes in their showroom.

Imagine they sell a 250cc for $2,500 Australian dollars. Bargain!

But then can such cheap dirt bikes be plagued with problems which are deemed within months to be too hard to fix? Well, we had to find out for sure.

It seems in the last 5 years the industry has really evolved in the dirt biking world. Instead of ‘cheap Chinese’ it’s now a case of ‘Reliable Chinese’ because their bikes are starting to get a reputation for actually doing the job. What’s lacking is the suspension and power, but otherwise you generally get a solid bike.

Don’t just take our word for it though! There are many who share that same opinion too. We’re still siding with the big brands for now in the mainstream dealers.

Customer experiences

Most people are pretty happy with the experiences with this mob. These days Extreme Outdoors sells mostly caravans and camper trailers though they do sell some of their cheap offroad motor bikes on the side.

Are they made in China? Yep. No other country on the planet can manufacture things this cheaply.

But are they any good? Actually…for the most part – yes! If you’re looking for a kids weekend toy that isn’t being thrashed on the MX track and instead is just used to develop riding skills, then this is a good idea.

See – with these Chinese bikes they’re designed to be ridden once or twice per month. On the other hand, manufacturers like KTM, Honda and Yamaha make their bikes to a standard, not to a price. For that reason, you can really open them up and they handle well offroad.

It seems from customer experiences and reviews on their dirt bikes that they’re mostly reliable and do the job, provided your kids are just toying around.

If money isn’t an object, we’d easily recommend the established brands.

The final verdict

So should you buy from these guys? Well, their camper trailers pack a ton of value as do their caravans. Personally we love the Opus camper trailers which they also sell.

As for the dirt bikes, well it’s a trade-off. You can buy something cheap just for the kids to mess around in on the paddock.

The type of bike that will last 2 to 3 years. Or invest in a brand name like Yamaha and KTM which can last 20 years. The challenge is coming up with that sorta cash.

If your kids are just learning, then we’d go with the Chinese bikes. These aren’t as low-quality as they used to be with Chinese manufacturers really raising their standards.

What are you thoughts? Let us know in the comments.

DA Motorcycles Salibury: Are They Any Good?

DA Motorcycles in Salisbury Plain near Adelaide sells Hyosung bikes as well as lots of accessories, but are they worth ordering from?

We’ve written an unbiased review of their dealership and we don’t have a commercial relationship with these guys.

It’s good for consumers to get a good opinion as to whether they are worth buying from.

DA Motorcycles review

Consumers seem to really enjoy the service at DA Motorcycles in Adelaide. With an average of 4.5 stars the friendly staff and great service has left people quite delighted.

DA Motorcycles review

There are some complaints however arising from their lack of parts (need to order in) and busy showroom on weekends. That’s a given and unavoidable in most instances.

If you would like an alternative, we’ve featured the best online dirt bike parts stores to help source that hard-to-find part. The problem there is, if you live in Adelaide, that it will take several days for Australia Post to deliver.

Dealership evaluation

So what are they really like? Well inside you’ll have a unique experience. These guys are more-so into the parts and selling used motorcycles as opposed to the latest KTMs, Hondas and Yamahas.

DA Motorcycles dealership inside

There is an extensive parts, service and repairs department. Often it’s cheaper to take your motorcycle here than to use the original dealership.

Brands on shelf include Fox, Maxima, RJays and Motol as you would expect. They also have a pretty decent range of helmets on offer.

Store history

One thing we really like to check when doing research for our reviews is the history of the store. It’s evident from the DA Motorcycles website that they started a long time ago and haven’t put much effort into updates.

The store in Adelaide

Now running for 10 years, they have built a loyal customer base. The friendly staff seem to go the extra mile based on old fashioned service.

Social media status

One thing that’s a bit odd is the lack of social media presence. They don’t really do Instagram or YouTube however have an established Facebook page with 4,500+ people following since 2012.

At this time of writing their last post was a few months ago. While other dealerships have pushed hard on to social media and content creation, DA Motorcycles haven’t really kept up so this is mild criticism from us (and really, a 1st world problem). It’s clear with so many reviews that they are serving a crowd who doesn’t really use social media as much.

Their unique edge

This isn’t your big dealership with massive marketing spend. What they do have is a great workshop and dedicated mechanics to look after your repairs and servicing, or even just recommend parts for you to do the work yourself at home.

What we really love is their family-friendly nature. You’ll find kids dirt bikes at this store which are the cheaper alternatives to the popular PeeWee 50 models, as well as kids dirt bike clothing to protect ’em when they inheritly crash on Saturday afternoon.

The store itself is quite large and is open everyday including weekends except for some public holidays. Try to go during the week when it’s a bit quieter.

Final verdict on DA Motorcycles

So would we recommend DA Motorcycles? Yes. Their average review rating is very high and our experiences show that they know dirt bikes very well.

The popular clothing brands are there as are the parts and servicing department to look after you for the long term. Very competitive on prices too as they’re a smaller store. If you order parts online instead from online, expect to be waiting days and potentially miss a great weekend ride.

By the way – we know our stuff and we’ve written a guide showing you the best Adelaide dirt bike spots. Check it out!

SA Motorcycles in Gepps Cross: Are They Any Good?

SA Motorcycles in Gepps Cross is a dealership representing Kawasaki and Honda as well as other used road and dirt bikes. This is our independent review.

We’re very much unbiased and have no commercial relationship with their shopfront on Main North Road nor are we connected with their Tailem Bend store either. It’s time consumers learned what they’re really like.

SA Motorcycles Review

It’s time to review SA Motorcycles, both their Gepps Cross and Tailem Bend stores. Do they stack up in the industry?

Adelaide has quite a few dirt bike stores so you can really shop around for the best prices and value, but there are times when you really need that part. While we’ve covered some great online parts stores, it still doesn’t come close to what we get to experience in terms of customer service inside a real dealership. That fresh rubber smell. You know the feeling, right?

SA Motorcycles Review Adelaide

When evaluating dealerships we look at a range of factors that customers should consider. That includes when they started, what they stock, how established their social media is. Most importantly: what are customers saying about them? You know like online reviews from customers of SA Motorcycles.

We’ve discovered that they are doing pretty well but not everyone is impressed. Complaints do stem from time to time mostly due to not having parts desired in stock and taking days for the truck to come in from the eastern states.

Dealership age

When did they start trading? Was it just last year? This is important as it’s hard to know if you’ll get genuine service from a motorcycle store that just started yesterday.

The good news is that they started over 10 years ago with SA Motorcycles having two stores. These are in Gepps Cross and Tailem Bend. You’ll find road bikes, dirt bikes as well as jet skis as well with ride days scheduled in Mannum quite regularly.

Who they stock

Kawasaki and Honda are their main lines so you’ll find them pushing those brands the most. But they aren’t limited there and have the rights to sell used brands like KTM and Yamaha. Really all of the mainstream brands come through their doors quite regularly!

You’ll also find popular parts that are genuine from the manufacture instead of cheap Chinese stuff from eBay. In terms of gear, Dianese, Alpinestars and Arai (and much more) are all here in their expansive showrooms.

If we had to pick, we recommend making the trip up to Gepps Cross. Why? Because their Tailem Bend store is a little on the small side. You also have a bigger chance of finding your size clothing or the right part for your motorcycle.

Social media

What we noticed is that SA Motorcycles doesn’t have YouTube or Instagram. Instead, they really just have a Facebook account here which is well established with 40,000+ followers.

When evaluating other motorcycle stores in Adelaide we noticed that most of them don’t keep up with posting on social media and eventually let it slip away. Not these guys! They have posts, images and videos being uploaded all the time.

At the end of the day, they also serve a lot of people who don’t really use social media all that much.

Final verdict on SA Motorcycles

So should you order from them? Well if you’ve found what you’re looking for, then sure! It’s best to go into the dealership as not many people order from their online store.

While it’s tempting to order stuff online nowadays, it also takes a while for parts to come in. Often SA Motorcycles can order parts in and it’s best to call them prior. (08) 8359 0100 for their Gepps Cross store and (08) 8572 3672 for their Tailem Bend store.

Before you go, we’ve got a free gift! Check out the best Adelaide dirt bike riding spots if you’re struggling to discover where to ride. Have a read of this now and we hope you have a blast!

Coast Powersports in Morphett Vale: Worth it?

Coast Powersports is a motorcycle store based in Morphett Vale, but are they any good? This unbiased review is based on our research and opinion.

We have no business relationship with Coast Powersports and aren’t compensated for reviews. Just like you, we’ve been into numerous motorcycle dealerships in Adelaide and it’s hard to know who to trust, right?

Luckily we’ve done the groundwork for you. Got a dirt bike? Well we’ll help you out:

Yep – you got it! Now there are no more excuses about where you can ride legally in the state.

In other words, we know our sport and won’t mess you around.

Coast Powersports in Morphett Vale

This is a dealership about 20km from Adelaide’s city centre to serve the entire southern region. Whether you’re into KTM, Yamaha or Kawasaki, you’ll find it here.

Coast Powersports in Morphett Vale

They also have a lot of used bikes coming in all the time. Some riders upgrade right there on the spot with a trade-in and they need to move these used bikes on pretty quickly, so you could get a great deal here.

When they started

We feel that it’s really important to know the history behind the dealership. Just like the big name brands like KTM who you know have been around the block for years, we want to know that this isn’t some shop that started yesterday.

These guys have been serving southern Adelaide now for more than 20 years in their same spot at 220 Main South Road, Morphett Vale.

Mark Flynn the dealer principal runs a closeknit team where most of them have been there for years helping out customers with buying decisions and providing servicing/mechanical advice and parts.

Coast Powersports reviews

Right – the nitty gritty of it all. Does Coast Powersports have a good reputation? Are their mechanics any good?

Coast Powersports customer review

We decided to evaluate both their Google and Facebook and found a reassuring amount of positive reviews averaging 4.8 stars. This is impressive as the industry norm is around 4.3 stars.

Clearly they’re doing a great job at what they do and that is customer service. Some dealerships have totally forgotten this in a world of technology and social media.

Ordering online

Can you order online with this mob? Not really. They are a traditional dealership who hasn’t caught the online wave just.

Also, they only have a Facebook page and Instagram as well. Most other dealerships have just a Facebook page with the occasional post, unfortunately.

Just remember that most of their customers aren’t hooked on social media and prefer to be out there riding all day everyday.

What’s on offer

Not only can you buy a new or used motorcycle for the road or dirt, but you can also pick up your apparel at the same time. Are you a KTM fanatic? There’s plenty of merch here.

KTM on the dealership floor

In addition, there are heaps of spare parts for most modern motorcycles. Some complaints do stem from Coast Powersports not having everything in stock and needing to order from Adelaide or even Sydney.

One alternative is online parts stores but again you’ll be waiting a few days and could miss a weekend ride. It’s always good to call up a dealership if you’re chasing a particular part.

Oh! And let’s not forget the ATVs, Rhinos and Waverunners here. They are southern Adelaide’s biggest personal watercraft dealer as well.

Final verdict on Coast Powersports

The final question is: Should you buy from them? Well – quite certainly they are built on a solid reputation with years of experience in the same location.

We would essentially say YES! They know their KTM’s, Kawasaki’s and Yamaha’s very well. If you’re chasing a Honda or Suzuki then you may wish to look elsewhere, though they have bargains on used models quite regularly.

Either way, they have strong reviews and a reputation in the industry for excellence. Twist that throttle and get out there!

GC Motorcycles in Prospect: Are They Any Good?

GC Motorcycles in Prospect are one of Adelaide’s most well-known motorcycle stores, but are they worth spending money with?

We’ve written this very unbiased review based on our opinion and research online. There is no business relationship between us and GC Motorcycles and just like you, we’re just committed to helping consumers make a choice.

Let’s get into it!

GC Motorcycles Review

We’re just like you and have been into quite a few of Adelaide’s dealerships in the past few months. Because of this experience we’re able to fairly figure out who’s running a proper operation.

GC Motorcycles shopfront Adelaide

These guys are really into motorcycle tyres and you’ll find heaps of sizes in stock at their Main North Rd dealership. There are also a lot of parts too as well as apparel and new bikes on the floor.

Their history

What’s important when analytizing any dealership for their reputation is their history. These guys have been in business since 1987, not some store that just started up yesterday.

Over the years they have built quite the reputation in Adelaide as the go-to place to get some good tyres that last for miles and miles. Because of this established reputation among Facebook groups, they now have around 200 customer reviews.

They look after road bikes and dirt bikes across Adelaide and surrounding towns. Sometimes they even offer a mobile service if you’re not able to bring your bike in due to registration issues.

GC Motorcycles customer experiences

Unfortunately, there are some complaints about GC motorcycles and the prices charged. Negative reviews have cropped up over the years.

Mistakes do happen and people are generally going to stuff up occasionally on the job. We’d love to see them put more effort into their website and social media presence. This is severely lacking compared to other fully set up operations.

Tyre Nerds is the online shop for GC Motorcycles and serves Adelaide as a specialist motorbike store with thousands of tyres in stock for racing on the track, dirt bikes as well as scooters.

Final verdict

So then is it worth heading into GC Motorcycles? Well with anything – call around for good prices. They aren’t the only motorcycle tyre shop in Adelaide but have a strong following in the racing scene.

There are times though where you are really limited for size depending on the bike you have. If that’s the case, then you may just have to go with their offer. Given their extensive history in the same spot and loyal customer base, we’re included to recommend them if you’re looking for genuine service.

Just remember that their prices include a fitment and balance.
