Indeed, the entire of the country of New Zealand is primed for exploring on 2 wheels. Some people literally fly from the other side of the world to explore the incredible mountainous views. Fortunately, you don’t have to travel so far.

Best Auckland Dirt Bike Tracks

We’ve compiled this list looking at Auckland Council information, internet forums and popular Facebook groups. There are certainly thousands of enthusiastic dirt bike riders around who are openly sharing information. Instead of you needing to hunt around, you can actually use our guide as a reference.

These are Auckland’s very best dirt bike tracks:

1. Maramarua Forest (South of Auckland)

The official word is that Maramarua Forest is still open for dirt bikes, however there are routine forestry operations in the area. Keep an eye out for logging tracks and the like heading through here, as well as other riders. Plenty of blind corners so slow down.

2. Thompson Track Dirt Bike Trail

Nearby there is Thompson Track. This is very popular on weekends so get there early in the morning. You’ll need a road-legal dirt bike for this spot and the police do routine licence and registration checks. Best ridden with a group of mates.

3. Slater Lakeside Motoxpark

For the motocross crowd, you’ll love this spot! Even if you’re just into enduro riding, you can use this closed-circuit track to hone in on your skills. The Huntly Motorcycle Club operates from here with a friendly crew of people keen to help others get into the sport.

4. Fells Farm MX

Another great MX track for dirt bikes is Fells Farm. This track is made from natural terrain and the spot is well-groomed by Ken the owner. There are regular events held here and you can even compete socially to win prizes or simply bragging rights. Good community of riders here.

5. Grapevine Track

The Grapevine Track in the North Island of New Zealand is open to both dirt bikes and 4×4 users. Keep this in mind as you go around the blind corners. There are several tracks open for much of the near. It can get seriously muddy here!

6. The Sandpit

Head into Woodhill Forest on the western side of Auckland and you’ll find sandy tracks inside dense forests. This is an interesting combination which often isn’t found anywhere else in the world. Be prepared to twist the throttle hard and keep leaning back!

7. Morototo – Wires Track

Some dirt bike riders choose to take on Morototo but it’s quite boggy and isn’t ideal for beginners. If you want to actually enjoy a day out on 2 wheels then take the Wires Track as it’s just simply easier. There are still some challenging spots to overcome so it’s best done on a group ride.

8. Thundercross Valley Dirt Bike Park

With 750 acres to explore right here, it’s going to take some serious time before you see every section of what Thundercross Valley has to offer. Dirt bikes love this spot and so we’ve really left the best until last on our list. It’s quite a drive from the city centre though so allow plenty of travel time + time to load/unload in the staging area.

Getting Going

It’s one thing to own a dirt bike and it’s another to actually ride it frequently. Most riders in Auckland choose to only ride in the summer months which really just leaves you with 12 weekends per year. Take out Christmas and New Years, and you’re down to 10, so use these wisely.

Plan your trips in advance and get some friends along. Bring a spare tube for each tyre as well as extra fuel some brake/clutch levers just in case. You don’t want to spoil a great day out on the tracks! After all, life is about exploring and pushing past the comfort zone on 2 wheels while the rest of the world is sipping lattes at the harbour.

New Hampshire’s Best Dirt Bike Tracks

It’s one thing to own a dirt bike and it’s another to actually ride it regularly. For many riders, their dirt bike stays locked up in the garage for months and months on end. Eventually, it ends up on Craigslist as the rider has lost time and the motivation to ride.

Bad decision! Riding dirt bikes is one of the best experiences on the planet and there are some good places around. Even the State of New Hampshire encourages dirt bike riding through opening up some State Forests.

Here are the best riding tracks for dirt bikes in New Hampshire:

1. Big Rock Campground

If you’re looking for a place to take the whole family, then this is it! Even if you don’t own a dirt bike, you’ll still be entertained at Big Rock Campground. There are more than 1,000 miles of dirt bike trails to explore here. You’ll get direct access to the North Country ATV Club Trail sand Ride the Wilds Trail System. It’s in North Stradford and the property does offer electric RV sites for you riders who love your big toy haulers. There is even a swimming pool and laundry availab here. Neat!

2. Pisgah State Park

Pisgah is certainly worth the trip! While there are only 15 miles to explore, it’s 15 miles better than nothing at all! The forest is incredible and you can camp at the staging area with your tent or RV. This is a State Park and so you’ll need to check the exact opening time yearly after mud season. It usually finishes around May yet some bog holes remain full, so you’ve been warned!

3. Ride the Wilds ATV Trail System

We mentioned that Big Rock leads to Ride the Wilds, and felt this spot deserved its own position on this list. This connects to the Jericho Lake State Park and the Perry Stream Trails. With 1,000+ miles at your disposal, you’ll be more than entertained for several days. Plenty of accommodation options nearby if the campground is fully booked out.

4. Cat Hole Trails New Hampshire

Cat Hole Trails is very popular with ATV and 4WD enthusiasts, but you’ll find some dirt bike riders on here too. It gets super muddy after rain so be warned – this isn’t beginner-friendly. The scenery is just mindblowingly good but keep an eye out for other track users. It’s best to keep in touch with Sullivan County ATV Club as they maintain this club for everyone.

5. Canaan Lions Motocross Tracks

Unlike most spots that serve ATV’s and side by side vehicles, this motocross track is exclusive for dirt bikes. It’s a closed-circuit track which has a clay base. This makes it damn slippery after rain yet dusty when the area hasn’t seen rain for weeks. Keep an eye out for the regular races which are held on site.

6. Ammonoosuc Recreational Trail

We’ve left one of New Hampshire’s best dirt bike riding areas until last. Get along to this spot and you’ll find dozens of miles of single track trails. It would be an excellent place to ride if it weren’t for needing an NH ONRV Sticker plus we need to stick to the 25-mph speed limit. After all, you are sharing the track with others. This spot is great for a slow cruise but nothing really above 3rd gear unfortunately.

Getting Started

There we have it! While New Hampshire isn’t considered to be the most recepitive to dirt bike riders, there are certainly some great riding around. It’s only after going through these trails that you’ll want to start heading out of town.

Given that many of these trails that we mentioned have camping facilities, there isn’t any reason to need to do a day-trip. Instead, load up the trailer and the tent and spend a few days away from the responsibilities of the world. You’ll be better off for it!

Best Dirt Bike Tracks Indiana

Frontaer has been busy auditing the best tracks worth riding around the state. We used several resources and consulted National Forest information available from the State of Indiana.

We excluded places where there was only a few miles of riding terrain. After all, you didn’t want to haul your bike(s) all that way only to discover that you could only have a quick squirt. This leaves us all with the following as a helpful guide.

These are currently Indiana’s best dirt bike trails:

1. Redbird State Riding Area

Head to Dugger, IN and you’ll find more than 1,000 acres of very interesting dirt bike trails. This area can be difficult with some rocky sections and deep ruts, with plenty of 4×4’s getting stuck in the bog holes after heavy rain. If you want to see some more experienced riders get through the rough stuff, then head along here.

2. Badlands Off Road Park Indiana

Head to Attica and you’ll find some great sand dunes, gravel hills and wooded trails. Yes – something for everyone here! If you need a break from the constant clutch control, then head over to the rock crawling section where you’ll see trial bikes attempting some creative balancing, as well as Jeep’s breaking some CV joints.

3. Foxx Lake Outdoor Area

This place really has it all! A camping area with hot showers to keep the wives happy, with excellent dirt bike trails and a motocross track to keep the husband smiling too. There are regular tournaments and even live events, so you may as well make a weekend of it! Kids are welcome to ride here.

4. Interlake State Recreation Area

Everyone can play here! Bring your 4×4, ATV or dirt bike and you’ll find yourself with miles of single track in which to explore. It gets real muddy after a few days of heavy rain, so be warned! When you’ve had enough riding, then wash it all off at one of the several man made lakes or throw in a line and catch some dinner. So much to offer here!

5. Lawrence County Recreational Park

With roughly 40 miles of marked dirt bike single track spread out on over 40 acres, dozens of motorcyclists make it along to Lawrence County Rec Park every weekend. It’s over in Bloomington and they seperate the dirt bikes from the ATV’s to avoid collisions. This is one of the few tracks that are also open on weekends too. Camping is available here for a small fee with showers provided.

6. Wabash Cannonball Motorcycle Club

Now we’re stepping back into history! This place has been running since 1937. Yes – that’s from the days of WW2. You’ll find a great hard packed and grassy track that’s welcoming of beginners, while also hosting open rides and competitions during the year. Kids are welcome with the PeeWee track proving to be very popular on weekends.

There we have it! Indiana, you’ve certainly got some great places to ride a dirt bike! Some places you can’t yet go include Indiana Dunes National Park, Hoosier National Forest and Brown County State Park. That said, these places are open to dual-sport riders looking for adventure and to camp away from the packed RV parks.

Now, you can watch riders on YouTube all day and night yet nothing can really replicate the feeling and genuine sound of a roaring 4-stroke. Grab some buddies together and make a weekend of it with epic thrills and spills, plus stories around the campfire. Life is too short to play it safe.

Those living in Boston, Worcester, Springfield, Lowell or Cambridge will find some great dirt bike trails around town. Frontaer has done a bit of research on your behalf!

Best Dirt Bike Tracks Massachusetts

We’ve curated this list to help those who are keen to discover the very best tracks around the state. These have been derived from 3rd party sites as well as the State of Massachusetts directory of National Parks and Forest Trails which allow dirt bikes to be ridden.

We have found these to be the best dirt bike tracks around Massachusetts:

1. Freetown-Fall River State Forest

We love riding in State Forest areas because they are free and the areas are well maintained. Head into Fall River and you’ll find the Freetown-Fall River State Forest area which has 25+ miles of single track for dirt bikes. There are some challenging sections which are best done with a group.

2. The Wick 338 Massachusetts

If you love the sand, then you’ll love this MX track. Head to Southwick and you’ll find 338 which is open for public use on occasions. This is one of those ‘call before you haul’ places as they host many national events including NEMA, NESC, AMA and NEMX races.

3. Tolland State Forest

Popular with enduro, dualsport and adventure riders is the Tolland State Forest. This spot is closed for winter and most of Spring, but for the rest of the year it’s a great spot. Bring some cash as you’ll need to pay a fee at the Ranger Station. 15 miles of trails which are very scenic and you’ll feel like a million miles away. You can’t camp in the Forest but nearby at Otis Reservoir has a campground and great fishing too.

4. Hodges Village Dam

When the fish aren’t biting in the French River, jump on the dirt bike and start riding. The trains aren’t the most spectacular but the views make up for this! As does the swimming and camping facilities nearby.

5. October Mountain State Forest

October Mountain State Forest features dozens of miles of dirt bike tracks with thousands of acres to explore. If you like the tight technical forest terrain which keeps you down in 2nd or 3rd gear, then you’ll love this spot. When you’re done riding then you’ll be able to hike along the world famous Appalachian Trail. Camping facilities here but they’re quite basic.

6. Bonny Rigg Campground

While not the best, Bonny Rigg is great for camping. There are a few miles of riding terrain but they are prohibited in most parts. There are nearby loops at October Mountain, Beartown and Pittsfield. That said – you’ll need to haul between these spots unless your dirt bike has full registration. Great spot to base yourself from if you’re into fishing, hiking and swimming though.

7. Crow Hill Motor Sports Park

If you’re looking for MX tracks, then you’ll find it at Crow Hill MX park. It’s near Templeton State Forest and the main track is epic to ride and race your buddies on. The kids can have a blast on the PeeWee track and spectators will love the amenities here.

Getting out there

It’s time to get out there and really explore all the tracks around town, or even head out of state on an adventure. Dual-sport riders typically look further afield for some great spots where they can go camping in the more rugged and remote areas.

There are some spots that you can’t really ride. These include Mohawk Trail State Forest and Beartown State Forest. The Myles Standish State Forest also doesn’t allow riding, however they do allow motorcycle adventurers to camp in here.

Get some buddies together and head out to one of these spots! Don’t just bring the motorcycles and instead bring some beer, tents and cooking equipment. Make the best of the good weather and good times!

Many people choose to live behind the screens these days. They watch others ride on YouTube dirt bike channels when they instead could be out there riding themselves. Life is too short to be behind the screens when we could instead be behind the handlebars.

Oklahoma’s Best Dirt Bike Riding Tracks

While not the most desierable place for the more affluent, they’re certainly missing out! Sipping coffees we’re sure! There are dirt bike tracks around the state that you’ve absolutely got to ride and explore.

In fact, the State of Oklahoma does encourage dirt bike riding. There are numerous OHV riding areas around that you’ll need to share with ATV’s and 4×4 enthusiasts, plus the occasional mountain bike rider. What’s great is that you can actually make a proper weekend of fun by bringing your camping gear and finding one of the numerous well marked camp sites.

These are the best trails to explore on a dirt bike in Oklahoma:

1. Appalachia Bay ORV Area

If there was an island reserved for 2 wheel enthusiasts, then this would be it! Well, it’s not truly an island but some do refer to Appalachia Bay as Motorcycle Island. This is because there is a Peninsula with a small strip that overflows with water after heavy rainfalls.

If you like beach riding, then this is an epic spot. Likewise you’ll find mud pits, bush riding and the occasional hill climb. Be warned, however, that this place gets super busy on weekends so get there early as possible such as sunrise.

2. Lake Murray State Park

Head out towards Ardmore in Oklahoma and you’ll come across the Lake Murray State Park. Not only can you ride here and explore the 10+ miles of dirt bike trails, but you can also camp here for much of the year. This spot overlooks a popular lake which is much needed after a heavy day of riding and sore bones! Bring the fishing rods as we hear they bite well!

3. Pine Mountain Trails Oklahoma

This place is huge! While not everyone is a fan of dirt bike resorts, this place does have something for everyone and people are spread out far enough. There are 1,700+ acres of trails and jumping areas worth developing your skills with. Beginners welcome, as are ATV’s and side-by-side vehicles.

4. White Water ORV Area

Another great offroad vehicle area to check out is White Water. This trail has been created by the Army Corps of Engineers and there are 80 acres in which you can let loose. It’s located near Keystone Dam and you can cool off in the Arkansas River after a hot day of riding is done.

5. Sundog Trails

This is a privately owned offroad park which overlooks the Canadian River. Again – a great spot to cool off from a day of riding your dirt bike. The terrain varies here with sandy areas, mud pits and some challenging hill climbs. Fancy a drag race with your buddies? You’ll find a special area reserved for this too.

6. Stillwater 500

Let’s say you’re a motocross enthusiast yet you enjoy your fairshare of enduro riding too. Where do you go? Two riding parks in one day? Well, not at Stillwater as they offer both styles of riding. Horrah! There are 33 miles of trails here and the spot is open for much of the year.

7. Scipio Recreational Trails

With a trail that’s almost 30 miles long, Scipio is worth it if you’re in the area already. We wouldn’t make a trip out here just for this spot as you’ll be done within the hour. More-so popular with dual-sport and adventure riders looking for an overnight camping spot in the woods.

8. Redneck Off-Road Heaven

Most off-road riding areas are closed after sunset. That is – they don’t actually allow night riding. Luckily, this place is as redneck as they come! You can continue your thrills and spills up to 9pm at night! Skip the camp fire and do some mud rescues while the mosquitos try to nab at your ankles. Sounds like fun…

9. Quartz Mountain State Resort Park

Bring the dirt bikes! Bring the boat! And yes, definitely bring the tent and bears! This place has several camp sites, boat ramps and is located right by a popular lake in Granite, OR. You’ll love the trails and trying to stay upright in the sand dunes.

10. Jandebeurs Motor Sports Park

With 6 motocross tracks on offer, you’ll love this spot! There are also four training tracks and two trail loops for those who love the enduro adventures. This place is open for much of the year with competitions often held here. You’ll need to head out to Okmulgee and book ahead to avoid disappointment.

11. Lake El Reno ATV Area

While it’s best for ATV’s, dirt bike riders can still go riding here. It’s right ont he shores of Lake Hudson and you’ll find mixed terrain including wooded trails, muddy bog holes and creek crossings. Try and avoid this place after heavy rain and the place also gets busy on weekends.

12. Crosstimbers ORV Park Oklahoma City

Frontaer has left the best until last! Crosstimbers ORV Park is where you’ll find more than 55 miles of clearly marked trails which are rated for difficulty. Beginners and more experienced riders will both enjoy this spot with sand and hard-packed clay making up much of the terrain.

The best part? You don’t need to travel far from the city. That’s right! Just 30 minutes from the CBD and you’ll find yourself a million miles away. This is a great place to ride without having to commit to much of a road trip. Even an after-work twist of the throttle can be had without having to wait for the perfect weekend.

Getting Started Today

We’ve covered some great spots! What about the areas where you are more restricted? The Ouachita National Forest is one of these but it’s open to dual-sport and adventure riders simply using the public gravel tracks to access the trailheads.

With many of these spots, you can certainly do a day trip. Leave before the sun rises and arrive home after dark. Likewise, get some buddies together and make a weekend camping adventure. Chatting about the day-time spills across the campfire sounds like the perfect getaway. Plus – it beats spending another minute binge-watching YouTube stunts.
